Skinny Drinks

I don’t understand all the controversy over the skinny drinks at Starbucks. Some people claim it’s offensive to name something “skinny” but what about all those other food labels (“non-fat” or “super size”)? Anyhow, I myself actually think the Starbucks skinny drink ordering system is pretty cool- yes, it’s just an ordering system meaning it’s not a new line of drinks but rather just a way of saying them. So instead of me stammering out my long order of “iced tall latte with sugar-free vanilla syrup, non-fat milk, and no whip cream please” I can just say “iced tall skinny vanilla latte”. Although now my latest favorite is really the iced tall skinny mocha which is described in the Starbucks website as “rich, full-bodied Starbucks® espresso combined with our bittersweet mocha syrup, fresh cold non-fat milk and ice.” Yum. I love the bittersweet chocolaty taste, and with a measly 60 calories, 20% of your daily calcium intake, a 6 grams of protein, it sounds even better to me.

Another skinny drink I like is the Skinny Girl’s Margarita of Bethenny Frankel from The Real Housewives of New York City ( that show was pretty entertaining although I don’t understand why she was on it when she’s not a housewife…) Anyway, all you need is some clear tequila, fresh lime juice, and a splash of Cointreau, Grand Marnier or Triple Sec. Double Yum.

On another note, my friend Mel sent me a study about how Women Would Sacrifice Almost Anything But Chocolate for Blogging. So true. Heehee.

Have a great weekend everyone! Go easy on the chocolates and the drinks.
