Or – I’m On a Boat!
I was fortunate to be invited to a dinner cruise last Friday night with some Boston Food Bloggers at the Odyssey, which departs from Boston Rhowes Wharf for brunch, lunch, and dinner cruises. It was very humid and rainy that night, but the weather didn’t dampen our spirits. It was nice to go around the Boston Harbor with fellow bloggers, and even nicer to enjoy a Wine Lovers cruise.
But I’m not gonna lie. The whole time I kept thinking of Andy Samberg.
You know that SNL short he did with T-Pain? I don’t get to watch Saturday Night Live that often anymore but when I catch it, it still makes me laugh out loud. I don’t think Andy Samberg is the funniest… but he is the cutest. Kristen Wiig and Maya Rudolph crack me up, especially on Bridesmaids.
But I digress.
I was with fellow bloggers Rachel (who arranged the whole dinner, thanks girl!), Meghan, Megan, Daisy and Michelle. I also met Amy (Enchante Boston), Richard (The Passionate Foodie), Joe (Boston Guru), and Hannah (The Daily Meal). We started with some champagne and picked one item per course from the prix fixe menu.
I wasn’t too impressed with the appetizer and dessert so only took a couple of bites of each (yes, don’t be shocked – I actually did not eat the entire slice). But, I really, really, really liked the braised short ribs. It was fall of the bone tender, and glazed with a wild mushroom gravy.
I had a fun evening, and I’d like to thank the Odyssey and Boston Food Bloggers again for the complimentary meal and drink. The dinner cruise was a nice break from my usual Friday night activities. If you’re cool like me, you spend Friday nights going to Bikram yoga, doing laundry, catching up with your DVR, and FaceTime-ing with your parents. And sometimes watching random videos featuring Andy Samberg.
I mean, come on, you gotta like Lazy Sunday, or Justin Timberlake’s parody of All The Single Ladies, and um “Present” In a Box.
Have you ever gone on a dinner cruise? Watch out for my I’m On a Boat Part II!
