Move Over, Julie and Julia

I’ve already professed my love for Julie and Julia but I’m thinking it MIGHT be eclipsed soon.

I have a particular fondness for books that get turned into movies, and it’s just bonus points if that movie involves my favorite topics: love, fashion, family, friends, food. Even if the movie just has once great food scene, I remember those scenes very clearly! For instance, no one would ever classify The Devil Wears Prada as a movie about food (um, it was more about not eating food to fit into dresses), but I remember that scene where Adrian Grenier makes a grilled cheese sandwich for Anne Hathaway as clearly as I remember the wardrobe changes and the catchphrases/movie lines (“what you don’t know is that that sweater is not just blue, it’s not turquoise, it’s not lapis, it’s actually cerulean.”)

eatpraylove Now one of my favorite books is also being made into a movie too: Eat, Pray, Love by Elizabeth Gilbert. I’ve bought copies of this book for several of my girlfriends as gifts, and everyone loves it too. The movie is scheduled for release in 2010 and I am very excited for it. This movie probably won’t have as much butter as Julie and Julia, but it will have more pasta and gelato (at least I hope so!)

Julie and Julia will have to move over and make room for another Julia – Julia Roberts, who will be playing the lead role. I can’t wait!

PS – I hope everyone had a FANTASTIC Thanksgiving weekend! I am one lucky lucky girl, and I have a never-ending list of blessings that I am thankful for.
