Dish of the Week | Burger from Waypoint

This is the new burger from Waypoint in Harvard Square, Cambridge MA. Double patty (same burger grind as their sister restaurant Alden & Harlow), celery root bun, a bacon and Cabot clothbound cheese spread, tonnato sauce, and a cabbage and onion slaw. It’s a mouthful and it’s incredible.

Each bite is messy and sloppy and filled with the perfect mix of umami flavors and different textures. The burger patties are juicy and meaty, holding up to the bacon and cheese spread (I would like a side tub of that next time) and the tonnato sauce (I’m not even sure what’s in it, but I know there’s anchovies). Perfectly toasted bun and crunchy slaw round everything up very nicely.

This burger is so new that it’s not even on the menu yet, and Waypoint (at least as of last week) is making 2 dozen burgers each night. I’m crossing my burger-greased fingers that it becomes a regular menu item soon!

Here’s a bonus close-up shot:

PS – the fries and the aoili are pretty awesome, too.
