Mystery Meet at Posto

Last week I played Mystery Meet hostess. I’m proud to say that the event was a success!

Our dinner was held at Pizzeria Posto in Somerville last Tuesday night. I already talked about some of the reasons why I picked Posto but it’s really because of one thing: because I really enjoy their food. The food there is simple and well-prepared, and is focused on fresh and high-quality ingredients – the very things that I adore about Italian food. Judging by the empty plates of the Mystery Meet attendees that night, it seems like everyone enjoyed their meals too.

These were the clues that were sent out:

Bianca Garcia of Confessions of a Chocoholic will be our hostess (so if you read my blog you might be able to figure out the location)
This neighborhood has been HONKing since 2009 (since the Honk Festival is held in Davis Square)
Mamma Mia, it’s our first Italian dinner! (yup)
Pinocchio is burning (alluding to the wood-burning stove in Posto)
Enzo saves bottles (alluding to the wine-preservation system)

Our meal included two appetizers, two pastas, two pizzas, and a dessert. I helped pick the menu so I was really excited for everyone to try the different dishes. Posto also offered a special wine flight for Mystery Meet diners:

of course I took advantage of the wine pairings

That photo above was from Mich, my ever-reliable partner in crime. But my friend Dave Kavaler was the official photographer that night, and he took some beautiful photos of the food:

we started with an arugula and endive salad with gorgonzola and a honey-thyme vinaigrette

tomato and goat cheese bruschetta

the chef also sent out some rosemary pita bread with sea salt

classic bolognese with tagliatelle pasta

Maine crab tortellini

Dave had access to the Posto kitchen and so we have some action shots too:

this was the production line for our Margherita pizzas

one Margherita fresh from the wood-burning oven

more to come!

that oven was really hot by the way (over 850 degrees)

and this was the production line for my favorite dish of the night:

the spicy sopressata pizza

We had some tiramisu for dessert – people were already pretty full by the end of the meal but not too full for cake :)

it was great hanging out with some fellow bloggers (Glenn on the left and Christine in the middle)

hanging out with some of my girls

and meeting new people (actually that's my friend Karen in the brown blouse, but I met a lot of new people that night!)

It is Mystery Meet after all, so there was a lot of mingling involved. If you’re in the Boston area, I encourage you to try and attend a Mystery Meet event. (You can get your invitations on the website). It’s always a fun experience.

Kudos to Posto for the great food and warm service. We all had a lovely time. And thank you to everyone who attended this month’s event!

PS – check out Dave’s website (he was the official photographer that night), he takes awesome pics!
