A Love Letter to St-Germain

Dear St-Germain,

I had my first sip of you two years ago and since then we have been inseparable. I always have you stocked at home, and you’re the star in one of my very favorite cocktails ever. I order you (with champagne) at restaurants and bars and taverns and even the occasional club, and you never fail to please me with your sweet, captivating flavor.

Thank you for not being jealous of tequila and vodka and wine. And thank you for being so charming that most of my girl friends have fallen in love with you too.

Last week, some of your (and my) favorite ladies got together for a little patio party in your honor.

That’s Megan, Meghan, Elizabeth, Emily (our gracious host) and Daisy – this was while we were waiting for the beautiful Amy. We all agreed that each of us will create a cocktail, and also bring some canapes to share.

my contribution was a limoncello drink topped with St-Germain

And because we think you go so well with different kinds of foods, we had an abundance of nibbles that night:

spicy soppressata and different kinds of cheeses (sheep tartufo and pecorino)

some gorgeous olives

cheesy, salty parmesan crisps with an heirloom tomato salad

savory ricotta and cucumber crepes

blueberry-goat cheese crostinis

teeny little St-Germain tea cakes

chocolate chip cookie dough truffles

and luscious lemon tarts

Did we think you went well with all these things (as well as a few other undocumented foods)? Yes, you certainly did.

As for the cocktails – well, we knew that once we put you in a drink that it would be sublime  – so we all came up with some St-Germain libations:

Emily made a peach and St-Germain spritzer

Megan made Sangria Flora

And there were a few more that my camera didn’t get to capture: Amy’s St. Honore 75 cocktails, Meghan’s pitcher of lemony basil concoction, and Daisy’s white wine-gin-and St.Germain mix.

we also had a non-alcoholic ginger-peach drink topped with frozen blueberries

We had the most fun, summer evening together! We were so happy to enjoy a night filled with laughter, food, and you. I am sure that we’ll be with you again soon.

from all of us, to you, avec l'amour

Oh and St-Germain, I don’t care if the dash in your name makes for bad SEO. I also don’t care that you’re not really a saint. (But really, who is?)

Love,

Bianca
