Mint Chocolate Bark

I know that St. Patrick’s Day have come and gone, so the proliferation of green-tinged recipes has slowed down.

This Mint Chocolate Bark only has little flecks of green. Pale green, actually. But that doesn’t mean it’s only appropriate for Irish holidays.

It’s another no-fuss, no-bake, fool-proof recipe, requiring only three ingredients. (Just three ingredients!) Which means it’s easy to whip up during any day, holiday or not.

Sangria Chicken

I love this recipe mostly because it uses my favorite drink, sangria. I know that there are different ways to make sangria – in addition to red wine, some people may add orange juice, triple sec, brandy, club soda, lemon juice, simple syrup, etc. But my favorite sangria recipe is the most simple and most basic one that I’ve learned from my mom: it’s a combination of red wine and orange juice. That’s it, pure and simple. My mom would add chopped fruit, but when I am too lazy to do that, I just pour some red wine into my wine glass and top it with orange juice. You can be sure that I poured myself a glass (or three) while making this chicken recipe.

Peanut Butter Chocolate Chip Rice Crispy Cookies

These cookies are chock full of peanut butter, eggs, and rice crispies. They’re practically breakfast. They are super easy to make, too. I didn’t use a mixer, just a big mixing bowl and a fork to stir everything together. There’s no chilling time required, no flour, no butter, no hassle.

And did I mention that these were the best peanut butter chocolate chip cookies I’ve ever had?

Easy White Chocolate Fudge

I know I’ve already given you three fudge recipes in the past: Nutella Fudge with Espresso Salt, Blackberry Fudge, and Salted Peanut Butter Fudge. But this newest version is a worthy fourth. It’s a ridiculously easy recipe that requires only 5 ingredients – two of which you can omit or edit; the others you may already have in your kitchen and fridge.

Lunch at Blue Dragon

Dubbed as an Asian gastropub, Blue Dragon was a hotly anticipated opening, and the crowds haven’t stopped coming. There’s a lot of small plates on the menu, conducive for sharing, but there are also some heartier plates with generous servings. The lunch menu is more limited than the dinner menu, but the choices are as appealing. The restaurant has a casual (think melanine ware) but chic (beautiful bar) atmosphere, and both times I’ve been there, Ming Tsai was there himself, facilitating orders, talking to customers, even bringing me my banh mi himself.

Boston Wine Expo 2013

One of the best things I like about the Boston Wine Expo is that while it may sound intimidating and look overwhelming to people who are not exactly wine connoisseurs (like me), it is actually a very well-organized event that is conducive to learning more about different types of wine, whether you’re a wine expert or not.

I attended the Boston Wine Expo last weekend with some friends (I am part of the blogger ambassador program and was given complimentary tickets). And in between many sips of wine and tasty little bites, I realized a few things. So I’m going to borrow a page from Oprah and her What I Know For Sure column on O Magazine and tell you about the Things I Know For Sure… from the Boston Wine Expo.

Spicy Spaghetti with Sardines

I started a new job exactly a week ago.

It was Valentine’s Day and my heart was full, as I embarked on a new relationship… with a new company.

Jobs are really like relationships, aren’t they? You both give and receive, you grow together, you live, you learn. And I would like to consider myself a serial monogamist, as I was with my former ad agency for seven years. But change was inevitable and now I am hoping that this new relationship will result in many happy years, too.

Snowy Weekend in Manchester, Vermont

February 17, 2013
vermont barn

You may have heard of a little winter storm named Nemo.

Nemo swept through New England last weekend, causing massive snow accumulations, travel bans, and leaving hundreds without heat or electricity. It was dubbed The Blizzard of 2013 and gave Boston the fifth highest snowfall ever recorded in the city.

But I wasn’t in Boston when Nemo slammed into the city. I was in a city in a colder, snowier state: Manchester, Vermont.

Dark Chocolate Citrus Brownies with a Cream Cheese Swirl

I’m not going to start another blog post with song quotes.

And I’m not going to say that if you still haven’t decided what to make for Valentine’s Day, that you should make these brownies.

Mostly because I think that chocolate desserts on Valentine’s Day should be rich and fudgy and decadent. And these brownies are not. Instead, they are light and cakey and intriguingly flavored with citrus. And they are addicting.

Some people wanna fill the world with silly love songs, and what’s wrong with that?

That’s one of my favorite Paul McCartney songs, and it couldn’t be more apt for Valentine’s Day.

And you know what? Sometimes I feel like this blog is made for Valentine’s Day.

There’s lots of pink, some sexy desserts, a little bit of booze, and of course- chocolate.
